Flight approved hand luggage designed to make the most of your maximum hand luggage allowance. It boasts 3 main zipped compartment, 2 zipped internal compartments, adjustable shoulder straps AND carrying handles so you can travel as a backpacker or a businessman as you see fit.

ELECTRIC COMPACT TOORHBRUSH (£6.49)

One of the things I miss most when travelling light is my electronic toothbrush. Thankfully Design Go Sonic have brought out this electronic toothbrush which runs off x1 AAA battery. It even has a lid for those early morning wake ups when you end up throwing you wet toothbrush in your bad.

LUGGAGE SCALES (£2.00)

Make sure you’re under your luggage allowance with these mini luggage scales – an essential item when flying on budget airlines who strongly enforce the rules. The scales themselves weight almost nothing so won’t add to much to your total.

7 PIECE AIR TRAVEL BOTTLE SET (£5.99)

Liquid limitations are a pain as you end up either checking your bag or buying new cosmetics at your destination. This set of three bottles, one pump spray and a tube allows you to take small quantities of your essentials in the cabin. It even has a funnel to help you full them.

PUMP FILL PERFUME DISPENSER (£6.50)

The one thing the 7 Piece Bottle Set doesn’t cater for is perfume. Luckily this portable perfume dispenser allows you to refill in seconds and has the same spray dispenser as a full sized bottle.

MICRO TRAVELLING TOWEL (£7.99)

Hostels don’t always provide towels and packing one is bulky and heavy. This micro towel (135cm x 70cm) is six-times lighter than a standard towel and dries four-times faster making it perfect for those on the move.

We know you probably wouldn’t be coming to this site if you were already rolling in the green and enjoying the finer things in life. We understand. You’re on a budget but you want to see the world. That makes two of us.

When travelling abroad though you’ll often be tempted to prepare by stuffing a boat-load of unnecessary stuff in your backpack or suitcase. Not smart. Not only does this take away from your budget, but also your space too.

Here’s some things you can forget about packing as you can buy these all around the world.

Stuff You Don’t Need: Books

Guide books, novels or magazines, you can generally count on the fact that you’ll be able to snap up these things abroad often second-hand and often much cheaper. Better option? Getting an electronic reader (we dig the Kindle) and swapping books in a DropBox folder shared among your friends.

Stuff You Don’t Need: T-Shirts

You might want to pack one decent outfit but for the most part you’ll likely be rocking it in slacks as you work and travel around the world. Buying T-shirts from local markets or, yes, we’re going there, tourist shops, is a sensible idea to do WHILE you’re travelling rather than before.

Stuff You Don’t Need: Raybans

Every hipsters dream (and especially necessary if travelling to a hot country), you can count on buying shades cheaply and easily from hawkers all over the world. Not the most robust but no point buying before you travel.

Stuff You Don’t Need: Toiletries

Worried about stinking up a hostel, café-cum-office or rental apartment? Pharmacies and supermarkets around the world all stock toiletries to keep you fresh and clean. Absolutely no point in buying these before unless you need something deadly specific.

Stuff You Don’t Need: Inflatable Travel Pillows

Seriously, you want to be that person? Rough it like everybody else and learn to fall asleep gracefully while in-transit. If you drool, you drool. Ain’t no inflatable pillow gonna save you.

What else would you recommend NOT taking when packing to travel abroad? Share your comments below!
